Terms of Use

Last updated October 5, 2026

These Terms of Use apply to everyone who plays WordBan at wordban.io. By joining or creating a room you agree to them. If you don't agree, simply don't use the game.

We wrote them in plain language. How we handle your data is explained in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

Who we are

WordBan is offered by ZENKOJI WORKS LTDA, a Brazilian company registered under CNPJ 65.424.972/0001-59. For anything about these Terms, write to hello@quickrefs.com or use the Contact page.

What WordBan is

WordBan is a word game to play with friends, family or in class, each person on their own phone. One person describes the word on the card without saying the forbidden words, and the others try to guess it.

The game is free and needs no account: you join with a nickname. Rooms and match data are deleted automatically after 24 hours without activity.

Who can play

  • People aged 13 and over can play on their own, with their parents' or guardians' knowledge if they are minors.
  • Children under 13 should only play with a parent or guardian.
  • In class, the teacher or school creating the room is responsible for using it appropriately with the group, and can use Classroom mode, which filters the cards.

How to use the game

By playing, you agree to:

  • Choose a nickname that doesn't offend anyone, doesn't impersonate someone else and doesn't contain personal data about you or anyone else.
  • Treat other players with respect in your guesses and card descriptions: no insults, harassment, discrimination or illegal content.
  • Not use bots, scripts or any automated means to play, create rooms or guess room codes.
  • Not try to get around the game's protections, access areas or data that aren't yours, overload our servers or reverse engineer the game.
  • Not copy the card deck, in whole or in part, by automated or bulk means.

Whoever creates a room decides who to invite and is responsible for sharing the code only with the people who should play. We may remove players or rooms that break these Terms and block access for anyone who abuses the game.

What you write in the game

Nicknames and guesses are the responsibility of whoever types them. You allow us, free of charge and only for as long as the room exists, to store them and show them to the room's participants so the game can work.

We aren't obliged to review what players write, but we may remove content or players when needed. To report a card, use the report button during a match; for anything else, use the Contact page.

Cards and intellectual property

The WordBan brand, design, code, texts and card deck belong to ZENKOJI WORKS LTDA or to those who license them to us. We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the game and play its cards within it. None of this is transferred to you.

Names of movies, shows, songs, people, brands and places that appear on cards belong to their owners and are mentioned only to identify what is to be guessed. WordBan is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

Family and Classroom modes

These modes use only cards we have marked as suitable for the audience, leaving out topics such as alcohol, gambling, drugs, crime and horror. We do our best to get it right, but people do the labeling and it can fail. If you find an unsuitable card, report it and we will review it.

Ads and donations

  • We may show ads in WordBan, including from third parties such as Google AdSense. When that happens, we will update the Privacy Policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it. In Classroom mode, no ads appear from the start to the end of a match, not even between turns; the lobby and the final summary may show ads. In no mode do we show ads during a turn.
  • The “Buy me a coffee” button takes you to a third-party site where you can support WordBan with a voluntary donation. A donation gives no in-game advantage or any other right, and is governed by the terms of the site that receives it.

Availability

We work to keep WordBan running, but we don't guarantee it will always be available, error-free or uninterrupted: maintenance, internet failures and provider problems can interrupt a match. We may change, suspend or end features; for big changes we will give notice in advance whenever possible.

Limit of liability

The game is provided as is, for fun. To the extent permitted by law, ZENKOJI WORKS LTDA is not liable for indirect damages, for what other players write or do, for connection failures, for losing a match or for the content of third-party sites the game links to.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights that the law gives you and that cannot be waived, such as mandatory consumer protection rights in your country.

Privacy

We use the minimum data needed for the game to work: nickname, guest identifier and match data, with no account and no email. Details, retention periods and your rights are in the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, for example when the game gets new features. The current version is always on this page, with the date at the top. For important changes, we will notify you in the game before they take effect. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the new version.

Governing law and courts

These Terms are governed by Brazilian law. If a dispute can't be settled by talking, it goes to the courts of your place of residence when you are a consumer, as Brazilian consumer law provides. In all other cases, the courts of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, have jurisdiction. If you play from another country, the mandatory consumer rights of your country still apply.
